Table Talk
Remember those childhood days, fidgeting in our seats, waiting for permission to be excused? A subtle shift in the atmosphere, a conversation taking a turn, and we felt trapped, longing for release. Well, friend, those days are OVER. The permission slip has been granted – and it's stamped with divine authority.
Scripture reminds us that we are created in God's image (Genesis 1:27), imbued with inherent worth and dignity. This isn't a passive inheritance; it's an active authority to steward our well-being and honor the peace God desires for us. Just as Jesus often withdrew to solitary places for prayer and reflection (Luke 5:16), we too are called to discern when a space or interaction no longer serves our spiritual health.
When the vibe shifts and the conversation sours, you are not obligated to remain seated in discomfort. There's a quiet strength in heeding the prompting of the Holy Spirit, in choosing to stand tall and walk away from situations that drain your energy and diminish your spirit. This isn't about being rude; it's about recognizing the value God places on your inner peace – a peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Let them wonder why you've chosen to step away. Your peace is a precious gift, non-negotiable in the eyes of God. Politely excusing yourself may be appropriate, but ultimately, the priority is choosing you – the you that God created and loves.
No more lingering at tables that don't offer the nourishment of respect, kindness, and edification. You deserve a seat at a table that aligns with the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).
Embrace the authority God has given you to steward your heart and mind. Step away from what diminishes you and move towards what nourishes your soul.
You are a child of God, worthy of peace and respect. Claim your seat at the table He has prepared for you.
May you walk in the assurance of your God-given authority.
In Him, Harmony
